Village of Fruitport council approves snowplow purchase, park repairs and zoning enforcement contract

President Roger Vanderstelt presided over the Village of Fruitport Budget Council meeting on March 9, 2026, where the council approved several procurement and maintenance items by unanimous roll-call votes. The council voted to buy a snowplow truck from Premier Truck Group for an amount not to exceed $41,295 and approved upgrades to the Pomona Park restrooms and serving kitchen for an amount not to exceed $33,000.

The council also approved a contract with Jeff Reams to provide zoning and ordinance enforcement services. The agenda was approved after Vanderstelt moved to add the park bathrooms and kitchen flooring item; Carl Rothenberger supported the motion. Minutes from the Feb. 16 budget meeting were approved on a subsequent motion by Bill Overkamp and a second from Chris LeFaive.

On the snowplow purchase, Vanderstelt noted the council had previously authorized auctioning the white truck at past meetings (April 21 and May 19, 2025) with a minimum bid condition. The Pomona Park project scope recorded in the minutes includes toilet auto-flushers, bathroom lighting, ceiling repairs, partitions and replacement of kitchen and bathroom flooring.

All roll-call votes recorded in the minutes show unanimous yes votes from the five council members present: Jeff Guiles, Chris LeFaive, Bill Overkamp, Carl Rothenberger and Roger Vanderstelt. No dissenting votes or abstentions were noted in the minutes. The meeting record does not list contract terms beyond the vendor name for the snowplow, the ceiling of the park project budget, or the contractor for the park work.

The council adjourned at 6:08 p.m. after completing the evening’s agenda.
