The Grass Valley City Council voted to adopt the Nevada County Culture Forward 2026'32 arts and culture action plan after a presentation by Eliza Tudor, executive director of the Nevada County Arts Council.
Tudor said the plan grew from 18 months of community engagement and identified 12 priorities including support for artists and creative careers, education and infrastructure strengthening, and a regional funding plan to sustain implementation. She cited prior research estimating $66,000,000 in economic activity tied to arts and culture, with roughly $31,900,000 from arts organizations and $34,100,000 in event-related audience spending.
"Culture Forward provides a countywide framework and unified direction that supports alignment between our cities, towns, county, schools, chambers of commerce, and arts and culture organizations around shared goals," Tudor told the council.
Robin Galvin Davies of the Grass Valley Downtown Business Association spoke in support during public comment, saying the plan was the result of a long community effort and thanking county arts staff for leading the work.
A council member moved to adopt the resolution recognizing and endorsing Culture Forward 2026'32; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no members opposed or abstaining.
Council members and staff described next steps as implementation through shared leadership across local government and community partners; the council did not specify funding amounts or an implementation timetable during the meeting.
