Commission asks staff to investigate replacement of decorative downtown street lights

The commissioner said he observed the replacement on High Street and near City Hall and urged the commission to protect the integrity of downtown lighting standards. "Some of those lights have been randomly replaced with this ugly cheap looking fixture," the commissioner said, adding that the downtown guidelines still specify the acorn style.
Commissioners asked Nolan and staff to consult with public service and the city attorney about whether replacements are part of an authorized public works capital expenditure or an unauthorized change, and requested follow-up. Staff agreed to investigate and report back.
