Historic District Commission approves agenda and minutes; two residents express interest in vacancy

The Historic District Commission of the City of the Village of Clarkston convened Jan. 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Art Pappas Village Hall and unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the Dec. 9, 2025 minutes.
K. Trumbore moved to approve the agenda; J. Radcliff seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. L. Patercsak moved to approve the Dec. 9 minutes "as written without changes or additions;" K. Trumbore seconded and the commission approved that motion unanimously as well.
Commission announcements listed three upcoming preservation-related events: an MHPN webinar on Jan. 15, the 2026 MHPN statewide historic preservation conference May 7–9 in Grosse Pointe Shores, and a Cranbrook Art Museum program titled "History of American Architecture: Beauty Revisited" (Jan. 13–Feb. 10) available by Zoom or in person.
No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period. In final comments, the commission noted two residents who have expressed interest in the current HDC vacancy. Ms. Kim Coleman of 30 South Holcomb Road has attempted to obtain an information packet but the packet delivery has so far failed and efforts will continue. Mr. Jawad A. Defouni of 6201 South Main Street attended to express interest; the minutes record that he is "an architect and engineer" and has lived in the village for about three months, and that he would be eligible for appointment in approximately nine months.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The commission's next regular meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
