The Brian Head Town Council appointed Martin Tidwell to fill a midterm vacancy, voting 5-0 at its March 24 meeting.
Tidwell, who previously served on the Town Council and Planning Commission and is a certified public accountant with corporate finance experience, emphasized fiscal responsibility, community collaboration, and experience working on the Aspen Meadows development agreement during his interview. The council also interviewed Zach Sigurd, a technology consultant and small-business owner who emphasized modernization, customer communication, infrastructure improvements, and snow-removal priorities.
Council members who favored Tidwell cited his institutional knowledge of local development agreements and financial background; Council Member Larry Freeberg made the appointment motion and Council Member Duane Nyen seconded. The motion carried 5-0. Council Member Mitch Ricks was later excused at 2:55 p.m.
Tidwell will serve the remainder of the term through Dec. 31, 2027. The council did not take additional action related to interim representation or committee reassignments at the meeting.
