Commissioners approve Flintco change order and other routine contracts

Oklahoma County commissioners voted April 28 to approve a $59,229 change order with Flintco for storm sewer work at the Behavioral Care Center and authorized additional pier drilling for a sanitary sewer crossing after encountering deeper-than-expected bedrock, with an additional cost cited as $66,828.

The meeting was called to order by the chair, who noted all three commissioners were present and that the meeting had been properly posted in District 1. A county official presented the Behavioral Care Center items, explaining the change order will add storm sewer systems on the west side of the property. "We're adding some storm sewer systems on the west side of the property," a commissioner said when introducing the change order; the board then approved it by voice vote.

On the sanitary sewer work, a commissioner said the depth of bedrock exceeded expectations and that additional drilling of piers was required, with the amount discussed as $66,828. The board approved that change order by voice vote.

County staff also presented a set of routine annual contract renewals (effective July 1–June 30). Commissioners discussed whether to consolidate copier contracts and whether to defer a particular item pending numbers from the treasurer's office. After discussion, the board struck item 27 and took items 25, 26 and 28–32 together, approving them as routine renewals.

The board separately approved an assistance agreement with Oakdale Public Schools for excavation and removal of material from school property after a presentation from the District 1 representative.

All motions recorded in these items were approved by voice vote. The chair and commissioners did not record roll-call tallies by name in the public transcript; the board announced approval by saying "aye." The meeting later recessed into executive session and returned to regular session before adjournment.
