City engineer outlines Shore Road bid, Woodcrest work and raised-crosswalk timeline

The Absecon City engineer told the council the Shore Road project is currently out to bid, with the bid opening set for March 31 at the county offices. The engineer said the city expects to hear a decision on a local recreation grant for a proposed pole-barn indoor sports facility in early April.
The engineer also reported that contractor APS — the firm handling the 25 Road program — expects to mobilize in town in two to three weeks to begin concrete work on Woodcrest Court, followed by work on Delaware Avenue that could continue into June. Additional survey work for the raised-crosswalk project is complete and the design will be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for review; the engineer estimated DOT review typically takes about a month, with May–June targeted for going out to bid.
The engineer said staff completed extra survey work and will attempt to address DOT comments on first review to keep the timeline on track. The council asked staff to keep members updated on bid results and grant decisions.
