Weld County commissioners approved a change order April 27 to the demolition and abatement contract for West Block 66 North, adding $324,825.80 after destructive sampling revealed additional abatement work was required.
Patrick O'Neil, director of facilities, told the board that the additional required abatement scope was identified during destructive sampling, prompting the change order request. He said the change increases the contract value to $1,138,939.97. The board had reviewed the change order in an administrative work session on April 14 and the facilities department recommended approval.
Commissioner Ross moved to approve contract ID 10585 (change order #1); Commissioner Buck seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve the request.
What happens next: The contractor will perform the additional abatement work under the amended contract; Facilities staff will proceed under the revised contract terms.
