The Wayne County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the county’s fiscal year 2027 budget on April 14, approving Resolution 26-24 and entering the budget with the Department of Management. The board held a public hearing that drew no oral or written comments before moving to adoption.
The adopted budget covers the fiscal year July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. Resolution 26-24 referenced public notice under HF718 and recorded proposed levy rates of 4.06923 for the General Basic levy and 3.79698 for the Rural Basic levy. Chair Chris Moore introduced the resolution; Supervisor Lance Lange moved for approval and Supervisor Todd Wilson seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved Resolution 26-25, authorizing expenditure appropriations for FY27 totaling $13,562,145 with projected revenues of $7,390,240. Major appropriations include $6,016,287 for Secondary Roads and $3,178,565 for the Sheriff’s Office. Other notable allocations include Public Health at $754,200 and Conservation at $379,066.
Board members noted that the budget and appropriations are filed with the Department of Management and become effective July 1, 2026. The board recorded the approvals as unanimous among the three supervisors present (Chris Moore, Todd Wilson and Lance Lange).
