Little Miami schools named DeWine 'Science of Reading' champions; students and staff honored

The Little Miami Local Board opened its March 25 meeting by recognizing students and staff for character and service.
Presenters recognized five students from across the district — Remy Zakir Zakirty, River Cole, Eleanor Boren, RJ Kumar and Avery Martin — as Panther character award recipients for this month, highlighting humility and respect.
Chair (speaker 1) and Principal Lisonbee Gates (speaker 7) also honored custodian Andy Daniels as the Panther Pride award recipient; Gates praised his reliability, attention to detail and positive attitude.
In communications, Jen Horvath (speaker 10) announced that Little Miami Early Childhood Center and Little Miami Primary School were designated by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce as governor's 'Science of Reading' champion schools. Horvath said the schools met all criteria across assessment, materials, family engagement and other domains and noted Little Miami was one of 109 recipients statewide and the only one in Warren County.
The board invited award recipients to the lobby for photographs and praised staff and students for their work on literacy and school climate.
