Texas Hill Country River Region presents 2026 budget; county approves

Christie Gerdes, executive director of the Texas Hill Country River Region, presented the organization's 2026 budget to the court, saying anticipated collections from the hotel-occupancy-tax (HOT) will be down about 15% due to economic trends. Gerdes said the budget reduces marketing research and development spending and adds line items for promotional video, photography and influencers to support a strategic marketing plan.
Gerdes noted the organization will continue the river-cleanup program and volunteer support and has added and adjusted event line items, including support for Songs on the Frio and a new Terra Texas art and mural festival spanning Concan to Lakey. She also said the Trout stocking expense remains (about $30,000) and that the group plans fundraising to cover initiatives that cannot be paid from the HOT budget.
The court moved and approved the presented budget following the briefing.
