The Federal Way Parks committee moved March 10 to forward to council authorization to award the Federal Way Community Center electric vehicle charging station contract to Forecast Roofing LLC, the lowest responsive bidder, for $162,309.40. Claribel Orianna, parks capital-projects manager, said the work was budgeted under the Parks Capital Projects Fund and is funded through the Washington State Department of Commerce Electric Vehicle Charging Program grant.
Orianna said staff solicited bids for two locations and selected a northwest-side lot to preserve main parking spaces and because it was the most cost-effective install. Committee members asked about security cameras and user fees; staff confirmed a camera exists and that rates will be managed through the charging vendor’s app. Staff estimated a possible payback period “as little as 3 years” depending on user rates.
The committee voted to forward the contract authorization to the March 24 council consent agenda for approval.
