DRC approves Ace Hardware outdoor storage plan in Jonesville with fencing and EV chargers

The Alachua County Development Review Committee voted Nov. 20 to approve a revised final development plan allowing outdoor storage behind the Ace Hardware at 202 NW 140th Terrace in the Jonesville Business Park Planned Development.
Jacob Stout, planner with Alachua County Growth Management, described the 0.16-acre parcel as a small grass area behind the existing store and said the Board of County Commissioners approved a related minor PD amendment on Nov. 4 that allows outdoor storage of nonhazardous retail items and permits chain-link fencing with obscuring fabric. Stout said the revised final plan includes paving, a 10-foot-tall fence enclosing the retail storage area with a covered section, sidewalk extension and two electric-vehicle charging stations for two parking spaces. "Those nonhazardous items include things like landscaping materials and tools," Stout said while reviewing the recommended plan details.
The project's civil engineer identified presence and said there was no formal presentation; the engineer was available to answer committee questions. After staff presentation and applicant availability for questions, a committee member moved to approve the revised final development plan and another member seconded; the committee voted in favor and the motion passed.
Stout told the committee staff found the plan consistent with the Alachua County comprehensive plan, Unified Land Development Code and the PD zoning for the Jonesville Business Park. No public comments were offered on the item. The development order will be processed and recorded following the hearing.
