Sheriff’s deputy reports 19.7% increase in township offense reports for January

Deputy Kellerman of the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office reported to the Batavia Township Board of Trustees that the office handled 146 offense reports in January 2026, an increase of 19.67% from December.
Kellerman provided a breakdown: 28 violent-crime reports, 7 property reports, 47 personal reports, 13 drug- or alcohol-related reports, 48 information reports and 3 juvenile reports. Deputies assigned to the township handled 97% of incident reports and 88% of the offense reports; non-township deputies handled the remainder. Property recovered in the period totaled $372.
Kellerman said deputies patrolled 296 neighborhoods and performed an established vacation-check program twice, making 25 checks. The month included two breaking-and-entering incidents; there were no burglaries reported and one overdose in January.
Why it matters: The month-to-month increase in offense reports may indicate a short-term uptick in calls and incidents for township residents; the sheriff’s office will continue patrols and reporting as conditions evolve.
