TAC notes grant opportunities and that bikeshare vendor Bolt Mobility ceased operations

At its Aug. 2 meeting the TAC reviewed federal and state grant opportunities (SS4A, VTrans MTI, Park-and-Ride) and was told that bikeshare vendor Bolt Mobility ceased operations in July; partners are warehousing the fleet while exploring options for 2022–23.
The Chittenden County TAC used its members’ items section on Aug. 2 to highlight grant opportunities and ongoing program updates and to report an unexpected vendor suspension affecting the Greenride bikeshare system.
Staff highlighted the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and provided a notice-of-funding-opportunity link and webinars. CCRPC Executive Director Charlie Baker said the commission will support local applicants but does not plan a regional SS4A application this year because minimum grant sizes and match requirements make a regional application potentially burdensome for regional matching funds.
Staff also noted that VTrans’ Mobility and Transportation Innovation (MTI) Grant Program is accepting applications to support transit-dependent Vermonters and reduce greenhouse gas emissions; application materials and deadlines were posted. The VTrans Park-and-Ride grant application deadline is by e-mail on Sept. 2, 2022, and staff provided contact information for program managers.
Bryan Davis told the TAC that Greenride’s vendor, Bolt Mobility, unexpectedly ceased operating in July and that partners are warehousing the existing fleet while exploring system options for 2022–23. "The project team is exploring system options for 2022 and 2023," staff said. CATMA representatives noted a 30th-anniversary Transportation Summit planned for Oct. 18 at UVM.
