I‑89 2050 study update: electrification scenario and monitoring committee recommended

CCRPC staff gave an update on the I‑89 2050 Study on June 7, outlining the project vision, corridor assessment and the evaluation of strategy bundles to address future corridor needs.
Eleni Churchill, transportation program manager, described the bundles approach and said the analysis included an electrification scenario that modeled 90% of the light-duty fleet as electric to test travel- and emissions-related outcomes. Jason Charest reviewed the corridor assessment and explained that recommendations were organized by short-, medium- and long-term actions.
The CCRPC Board approved the final recommendations in May; the study proposes forming a monitoring committee to review data, metrics and transportation demand management (TDM) implementation so progress can be tracked and future investments calibrated. Staff said the next step is completing the final draft report and posting it for review.
Bob Henneberger asked whether fleet electrification impacts on fuel consumption were included; staff confirmed that was modeled as part of one bundle.
