District approves unified summer tech upgrade, software purchases and three-year transportation contract

At its April 9 meeting the West Chicago ESD 33 board approved several procurement items covering technology infrastructure, instructional software, and transportation.

The board approved a unified summer infrastructure upgrade composed of fiber network implementation by Sentinel Technologies, a firewall purchase from SHI, and switching infrastructure from SHI (motion by Tom Doyle, second by Morgan Banasiak). The motion carried on a roll-call vote, 6–0.

Separately, the board approved switching the Performing Arts department to MakeMusic as the department’s online database for musical pieces (motion by Banasiak, second by McLean), and approved the purchase and districtwide implementation of Goalbook for Special Education (motion by Banasiak, second by Garcia). The minutes record both votes as 6–0.

The board also approved administrators and staff attending national conferences (AVID; Community Schools and Family Engagement) for professional development.

Finally, the board awarded the transportation bid for the 2026–27 through 2028–29 school years to Illinois Central School Bus (motion by Tom Doyle, second by Sandra Garcia); the motion passed 6–0. The minutes list the awarded vendor and the contract term but do not provide the dollar value of the transportation contract.

All recorded procurement votes passed unanimously. The meeting minutes do not provide detailed contract terms, implementation timelines, or budget line-item commitments for these purchases; those will be managed by the relevant district departments.
