West Chicago ESD 33 trustees on March 19 received results of an external Strategic Management Audit designed to inform the district's upcoming strategic plan refresh.
Cathy Park, director of assessment and accountability, told the Board the audit team ' comprised of Illinois superintendents ' conducted site visits at each school and interviewed stakeholders in October. The review covered eight management dimensions, including leadership, culture and values, strategic thinking and planning, performance measurement and sustainability. Park summarized celebrations, areas for opportunity and suggested next steps for refining the district's strategic plan.
Board member Janette Hernandez used the shared-agreements reflection to frame the district's approach to the audit work, saying, "Seeing through seven sets of eyes, and staying united in putting our students first, is how we lead with integrity and how we serve our community well." Trustees were told the district will continue sharing updates with stakeholders as the plan moves into refresh and implementation phases.
Park said the district will continue targeted work on performance measurement and alignment, using annual survey data and Building Leadership Team analysis to guide continuous-improvement cycles. The Board received the audit materials and did not take an immediate policy vote; staff will return with related recommendations during the plan-refresh process.
