Richland One approves renewals, hires and one administrative appointment with an abstention
Summary
Following an executive session the board approved contract renewals, leaves, appointments and hiring for 2026–27; most motions passed unanimously, while one administrative appointment was approved 6–0–1 (one abstention).
After returning from executive session, the Richland One board voted on multiple human-resources recommendations, including contract renewals and hiring.
Doctor Kumis presented recommendations for contract renewals, leaves of absence and administrative appointments for the 2026–27 school year. The administration recommended renewal of contracts for certified staff, and a list of exceptions was noted for employees who would not receive contracts.
The board approved the contract renewals and the hiring of teachers on the attached list. When the board voted on appointment 14.04 (appointment of LW as director of school leadership and continuous improvement for 2026–27), the motion passed with six ayes and one abstention; other personnel motions passed unanimously.
Chair Lomenak said he would name the Lower Richland Baseball Field Naming Committee at the April 21 meeting after authorizing the chair to form the selection committee. The authorization passed unanimously.
