The Richmond Planning Commission recorded several routine actions and a scheduling update at its meeting.
Commissioners approved meeting minutes for June 3, 2025; June 17, 2025; and March 3, 2026 after motions and roll-call votes. After the March 3 minutes were called, Mr. McKenzie joined the meeting online and told commissioners, "my wife has delivered a healthy baby boy." The commission then voted to allow Mr. McKenzie to participate virtually for the remainder of the meeting.
On the consent agenda the commission considered Ordinance 2026-051, a special-use authorization for 4021 Crutchfield Street to permit a home occupation within an accessory structure under specified terms and conditions. With no public speakers, commissioners moved and seconded approval of the consent agenda; the motion passed and staff said the item will be recommended to City Council for final action.
Staff also provided a City Council update: Council last met on March 10, where it introduced one conditional-use and two special-use ordinances scheduled for an April 7 Council agenda, adopted three special-use permits and one rezoning, and left several ordinances pending at Council. Staff additionally corrected Planning Commission calendar dates distributed earlier in the year, noting October meetings had been rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday.
What happens next: recommended items will be forwarded to City Council for consideration on its upcoming agendas; staff and applicants may re-file withdrawn items if they choose.
