Committee forwards slate of board and commission appointments to council

The committee voted to forward a slate of appointments and reappointments to the full council after Pamela Nichols presented the vacancy report covering current and projected vacancies through May.
Nichols outlined multiple nominations and reappointments, including an application from Zachary Pauley for alternate member of the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority; Lacey Hancher for the City Personnel Board; reappointment of Al Umisa to the Clean City Commission 4th District seat; at-large community nominees Margie Langston and Alex Martin (with Austin Palmore also considered); and Public Utilities & Services Commission reappointments Andrew Grisby and Tracy Thayer plus a new appointee, Curt Johnson. Nichols also noted support for sustainability and resilience nominees and recent mayoral appointment Brianne Fisher.
Vice Chair Aberbacher moved to forward the slate. The committee recorded votes as follows when the clerk called the roll: Council member Gibson, yes; Vice Chair Aberbacher, aye; Chair Jordan, aye. The clerk announced that Sister Cities Commission consideration would be continued to the April 22 committee meeting.
The committee approved the motion and will forward the recommendations to council for final approval.
