Board discusses life-safety upgrades at ESC and a paving contract for East Transportation site

Lisa Casselman, executive director of facilities, planning and construction, presented a contract recommendation to Stewart Builders for paving work on the north-side road at the East Transportation site to improve safety for buses, students and parents. Casselman said the project ranked Stewart Builders first out of six proposals and described related improvements including signage and a security camera at a corner for OEM monitoring.
Trustees and staff discussed coordination with county precinct engineers on nearby Groeschke Road, which staff characterized as a larger drainage project outside the district’s scope that would require county investment; trustees asked about crossing guards and school-zone eligibility (staff said crossing guards require school-zone designation and coordination with police), and emphasized that the paving work must be complete before the school year and would be scheduled during summer months to avoid disruption.
