The Planning and Zoning Director told the City Council the department seeks a $6,000 annual buy-in for iWORKS software to modernize permitting and inspection workflows.
"Our buy in to the software portion will be $6,000 annual," the presenter said, explaining the system will allow online credit/debit card processing, field use of tablets by inspectors and better fee and payment tracking.
Council members confirmed tablets were already in field use and asked whether the $6,000 was included under contractual services; the director confirmed the amount and said it was a buy-in shared with other departments. There were no objections raised during the presentation.
The iWORKS request will be included in departmental budget deliberations for the coming fiscal year.
