Spring‑Ford board approves four‑year personnel agreements, recognizes four retirees

The Spring‑Ford Area School District Board of School Directors on April 27 unanimously approved personnel items that advance multi‑year agreements for support staff and recognized four district retirees. The vote on personnel section items A–Q passed 9–0.
Mrs. Hermans, reporting for the personnel committee, said the committee is moving benefit summaries for support groups to four‑year agreements to increase transparency and stability for staff. “These will be 4 year agreements,” she said, and credited work by Mrs. Leese and Mrs. Weisner in human resources for preparing the summaries. The groups cited by the committee included custodians, technical support, food service, Act 93 employees and custodial staff.
The board also approved routine meeting minutes and a series of finance, curriculum and property items by unanimous votes during the voting portion of the meeting. Chair called the initial motion to amend the agenda after a technical posting delay; solicitor Mr. Fitzgerald explained the electronic agenda posted after the 24‑hour window and the board voted to amend the agenda so the items could be considered that night (vote recorded 9–0).
Superintendent Dr. Burkhart recognized four district employees who are retiring this year: Nancy Gilbert, instructional assistant at Springford Senior High School (21 years); Linda Altman, instructional assistant at the Seventh Grade Center (4 years); Marilyn Rogers, instructional assistant at Upper Providence Elementary (18 years); and Mark Smith, payroll specialist at district office (8 years). The superintendent thanked them for a combined 51 years of service to the district.
The board briefly discussed proposals to restructure committee meeting timing and whether to move to a committee‑of‑the‑whole format, but members agreed further professional development and examples from other districts would be gathered before any organizational change is advertised or adopted.
The board adjourned after no members of the public requested to speak during the public‑comment period.
