The superintendent said these contracts maintain service levels and aim to control escalating costs.
On personnel, the board approved certified and classified personnel actions. The superintendent highlighted new hires — including several teachers who are former district students — continuing certified contracts for 16 employees who achieved professional licensure, and reemployment of about 22 limited certified staff for 2026–27. The board also approved retirements and routine classified staffing adjustments; one named retirement on the record was Patty Spero from Rushwood.
The board voted to appoint Chris Wiggins (introduced to the board during the meeting) as an assistant principal. Wiggins addressed the board, saying he was honored to join the community and committed to accountability and service to students and staff.
Most consent items and contracts passed on motions and voice/roll calls during the meeting. The board concluded the evening after routine appropriations and adjourned; its next regular meeting is scheduled for May 19, 2026, at 7 p.m.
