The district's insurance advisory committee reported March 23 that premium costs for the 2026-27 plan year are expected to increase significantly. According to the committee summary, "It is expected that premiums will increase between 15.8% for HMO plans and 17.84% for PPO plans," the committee said, citing review by Amy Abel and Tyler Loney of the Alara Group.
The cooperative that administers plan choices for district members will meet April 9 to consider changes intended to mitigate the premium increase; any changes would take effect for the plan year beginning Sept. 1, 2026. Board members were advised the cooperative is evaluating additional plan design options and that the district remains a participant in the cooperative.
No final plan changes were adopted by the board at the meeting; administrators said the cooperative's April meeting will determine final premiums and plan designs.
