The Torrance Unified School District board on Dec. 8 confirmed two administrative appointments announced from closed session.
The board introduced Dr. Alice Lee as the district’s senior director of elementary schools. Board members reviewed Dr. Lee’s background, noting her role as assistant superintendent of educational services in Ocean View School District (since March 2024), prior positions in Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified and El Segundo Unified, and academic training at UCLA. Dr. Lee thanked the board and said accepting the role felt like a ‘‘homecoming’’ after attending Torrance schools as a child.
The board also introduced Shannon Romo as assistant principal for the district’s regional special education program. Romo, who most recently served as a program specialist for the Downey‑Montebello SELPA, described her commitment to inclusive practice and supporting students and staff in that role.
Both appointments were welcomed by trustees and approved in the meeting; the administration recorded the appointments as actions taken following closed session.
