The committee then considered Kate Torres, the mayoral nominee for the city’s internal audit commission. Torres described a commercial real‑estate and leasing practice and said she recently moved to Connecticut and wants to "give back to my community." Council members praised the internal audit commission’s role overseeing city financial controls; a motion to forward Torres’s appointment also passed by voice vote.
Both appointments will now go to the full City Council for final confirmation.
