Commission votes to recommend local designation for World War II monument and flagpole

Several commissioners raised maintenance concerns about the concrete base and whether replacement would affect historic integrity. Courtney Mooney explained that replacing a component such as a concrete base in a compatible manner does not necessarily remove eligibility.
Commissioner (speaker 3) moved to recommend that city council approve the nomination of the World War II Monument and Memorial Flagpole for local designation on the Boulder City Historic Property Register; a second was recorded and the motion carried by voice vote. The recommendation will be forwarded to city council and the item will require a public hearing.
