Candace Moynihan, the district’s CFO and assistant superintendent of business, walked the board through the six special revenue funds that are separate from the general fund. She said the food service fund’s adjusted budget sits just under $2.9 million and that the district is projecting a purposeful current‑year deficit of approximately $391,000 tied to participation and cost adjustments. Moynihan reviewed community services and co‑curricular endowment funds, sinking‑fund projects (including Conant site work and high‑school tennis court resurfacing), and the district’s role as fiscal agent for inter‑district programs; she flagged a projected deficit in the International Academy/Central Campus fund that will require governance discussions and possible expenditure adjustments.
On motions from the consent agenda the board:
- Ratified the collective bargaining agreement with the Bloomfield Hills Association of Early Childhood Educators (vote 5–0). - Approved the 95 Core literacy adoption and purchase (see separate article). - Awarded Corrigan Moving Systems $132,460 for move management services to support bond work. - Approved a music equipment bid package for $184,325 to be paid from bond funds. - Awarded bid package 26‑01 (Conant Elementary site improvements, high‑school tennis court resurfacing and drainage work) in the amount of $2,446,234.68, to be funded from sinking fund, bond and co‑curricular endowment sources.
Trustees said the presentation provided detail and transparency and that a final amendment will return to the board in June if minor cleanup adjustments are needed. All motions described here passed with recorded support from the full five‑member board.
