"For those of you following at home, we are 1 applicant for the convention. There are 5 finalists," the mayor said. He emphasized, "We did not use any city resources, for either my or our team support to travel there or to, host events there. We're raising separately for that." He added that the bid could bring significant economic investment, saying, "It could be up to $500,000,000 of investment in the city if we're successful."
Council members thanked staff and party leaders for outreach efforts and noted the city will continue to make the case to selection committees in the months ahead. No formal council action on the bid was recorded in the public portion of the meeting; the comments were part of announcements and not a vote or directive allocating city funds.
