Board approves consent items, policy revisions and $1.392 million roof contract

At its Dec. 2 meeting the Mankato Public School District board approved the consent agenda (including minutes and a personnel addendum), unanimously accepted a group of gifts and grants to multiple schools, adopted six school‑board policy revisions/eliminations on second reading, and approved a bid for roof repair at Dakota Meadows Middle School.

Roll call on the consent agenda recorded affirmative votes from members present; the consent items included personnel actions and routine minutes. District staff read into the record donations that included an $1,800 Office Depot contribution to Washington Elementary, materials from Jones Metal valued at $175 for West High’s welding program, and several monetary donations to athletics programs at East and West High.

On policy, Mr. Lustig presented revisions to policies 503 (student attendance), 516 (student medication) and 618 (grading and evaluation) and recommended eliminating three obsolete policies (621, 623 and 636). The board approved those changes by motion on second reading.

For capital work, the district opened bids for required roof repairs at Dakota Meadows and recommended awarding the work to the lowest responsible bidder, Jackson and Associates, at $1,392,000 for five roof sections. The board approved the contract by roll call.

What happens next: Staff will proceed with the summer 2026 roof project under the board‑approved contract and will implement revised policies and record accepted donations in district financials.
