Marion County commissioners clarify terms, reappoint planning commissioners and open at-large application period

Planning department staff presented reappointment recommendations for the county planning commission and the board addressed questions about prior interim appointments and term dates.

Staff named eligible incumbents and noted which members were eligible for additional three-year terms; commissioners then moved and seconded individual reappointments. After clarification that one appointee (Brandy Smith) had been sworn in in January and that the original appointment language might not have specified term-start and end years, the board voted to appoint Smith for the 2026–2028 term to clear the record.
