The Park County Advisory Board of the Environment adopted revised model bylaws provided by the Board of County Commissioners at its Feb. 10, 2026 meeting in Fairplay. The motion to adopt the bylaws was made by Patrick Schilken and seconded by Bernie Petersen; the motion passed unanimously.
Lucas Meyer reviewed the proposed revisions and told the board the bylaws are intended to help each committee adopt rules tailored to its functions while ensuring compliance with Colorado Open Meetings law. Meyer said committees should coordinate activities and communications through an assigned Park County staff member; the current staff liaison assigned to ABE is Allison Zan from the planning department.
John Reiber distributed the draft bylaws to ABE members before the vote. Board members discussed the necessity of adopting formal rules, and members agreed adoption would improve clarity on meeting procedures and staff coordination. The board set the next meeting for March 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM and adjourned at 4:27 PM.
