ANDOVER, Kan. — The Andover City Council on April 28 confirmed several mayoral appointments, approving Zachary Smith to the site plan review committee and appointing Melissa Fitzgerald and Gabby Pippen to the library board.
Mayor introduced Zachary Smith to fill a vacant site plan review committee seat with a term expiring January 2029. Smith introduced himself to the governing body: "My wife and I have lived here in Andover for about 6 years, and I'm a civil engineer here in the area. I do site and subdivision development, both in the construction phase and the design phase."
Councilmember Homer Henry moved to approve the mayor's nomination of Zachary Smith; the motion was seconded and passed 6-0. Council asked staff to ensure Smith is properly onboarded and set up with necessary accounts and equipment before attending the site plan meeting the following Tuesday.
The mayor also asked for approval of two library board appointments: Melissa Fitzgerald and Gabby Pippen were named to four-year terms expiring in 2030. The council approved both appointments in one motion; neither appointee was present.
The council welcomed Smith and thanked all volunteers for their willingness to serve. No additional details about library board backgrounds were provided at the meeting.
