The Brownsburg Town Council on April 23 approved multiple administrative items: a resurfacing contract under the Community Crossings grant, a pedestrian-crossing contract to improve school walking routes, and a staff authorization to support a Girl Scout free little library.
Public works staff reported seven resurfacing bids for the Community Crossings HMA resurfacing project (project 2026-1) and recommended awarding the base bid to Howard Companies—work that will resurface about five miles of road and add 61 ADA ramps. Council moved and voted to approve the Howard Companies award.
Staff also presented a $113,159 bid from Morphey Construction for three flashing beacons and crosswalk improvements on designated school walking routes; council approved that award as well.
In parks business, Park Advisory Board member Amber Lane introduced Girl Scout Troop 8015 and lead volunteer Ashley Anderson, who described a free little library the troop built using cookie-fund proceeds and volunteer labor and asked to install it at Stevens Park. Anderson said the troop will install and maintain the box and does not seek town funding. Council voted to authorize staff to continue working through permit and site details and expressed strong support for the troop’s literacy initiative.
What the council recorded: Consent agenda items (minutes and a claims/payroll docket totaling $2,569,235.94) were approved earlier in the meeting, and staff presented routine departmental reports (police, fire, human resources, community relations).
