Board creates middle/high school Emotional Support Program and appoints interim high school principal

During the March 30, 2026 voting session, the Beaver Area School District Board approved the establishment of a Middle School/High School Emotional Support Program to begin in the 2026–2027 school year and authorized creation of one Special Education teaching position to support the program.
The motion to establish the program and the supporting position was included in the consent agenda and carried unanimously. The board materials did not provide detailed operating parameters (for example caseload, program hours or reporting requirements) beyond the creation of one position and the program start date.
Separately under personnel items, the board appointed Mr. Chris Ortmann as Interim High School Principal effective Feb. 26, 2026; Mr. Ortmann will return to his role as College Square Elementary Principal upon the return of the previous high school principal (Mr. Snowden). The remuneration for the interim principal role was listed as a stipend of $75 per day. The board also approved the appointment of Dr. Mandie Payne as Interim Dean of Students at College Square effective Feb. 26, 2026, with a similar stipend arrangement noted.
