Valparaiso City engineering staff asked the Board of Works to approve a $60,000 grant application to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for a lake and river enhancement project in the Butte Creek watershed.
Max, an engineering staff member, told the Board the city previously received a similar grant in 2017 that helped complete multiple projects in the watershed, and cited recent work such as Oakwood Branch Phase B and Kenwood Branch Phase C2. Staff recommended applying for a $60,000 grant; the proposal would include a $15,000 local match. Max said the utility board has already approved the grant submittal.
Chair moved to approve the application. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The engineering department will submit the application and return to the Board with any required follow-up documents or award details once the DNR completes its review.
