At the March 12 meeting the commission approved several procurement and property actions:
- Landscaping: Debbie (speaker 9) said staff solicited proposals for landscaping maintenance across RDC properties and recommended awarding the contract to Mike's Lawn Care for $11,000. Two other proposals were cited: Lakeshore Landscaping ($14,006.15) and K and D Lawn & Landscaping ($20,080). Commissioners asked about fertilizer and milkweed/monarch butterfly considerations; staff confirmed specifications align with city parks practices and that a list of approved products will be provided to the contractor.
- Listing agreement: Staff recommended engaging Willie Steiner & Brust to list a roughly 1.3‑acre excess parcel (Lot 1, 2301 Northland Drive) created as part of an INDOT right‑of‑way change associated with a Highway 30 realignment. The commission authorized staff to proceed with the listing agreement and noted an appraisal and a planned quitclaim transfer of the parcel from the city to the RDC would follow.
- Environmental consulting: George (speaker 4) requested approval of an as‑needed professional services agreement with August Mac for environmental work related to the former McGill manufacturing plant / Valpo Rec project, with an amount not to exceed $10,000 under the professional services budget. Commissioners approved the agreement.
All three items carried on vocal unanimous votes.
