The Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation board voted to award the 2026–2028 Before and After School Latchkey contract to the Mooresville Parks & Recreation District at its March 10, 2026 meeting.
Mrs. Holly Frye told the board that the district solicited bids and received proposals from three providers: Mooresville Parks & Recreation District, Boys and Girls Club of Morgan County, and the YMCA of Morgan County. A review team composed of elementary principals and central office administrators evaluated programming, pricing and student offerings and recommended the Mooresville Parks & Recreation District for the contract covering the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years.
Before the vote, Mr. Matt Saner announced he would abstain because of his position on the Mooresville Parks Board. The board then voted on a motion by Deon Brimmage, seconded by Jennifer Reed; the motion carried 4-0 with one abstention recorded.
The board’s minutes do not record the specific dollar amounts or contract duration beyond the two school-year periods referenced in the recommendation. The motion as recorded approved the contract award; implementation and any transition details were not included in the minutes.
