Residents raise traffic and damaged‑wall concerns at Rowlett council meeting; mayor says bids, engineering pending

During citizens input at the Nov. 4 Rowlett City Council meeting, two residents urged the council to act on neighborhood problems.

Luke Marston, introduced as the first speaker, told the council traffic at I‑30 and George Bush has worsened and asked whether anything could be done to reduce congestion. "The traffic was backed up to George Bush just to get to the city council meeting," Marston said, asking the council to consider options.

Alan Hogan, a Lake Bend Estates resident since 1991, said a city‑owned screening wall in his neighborhood has been struck multiple times and remains unrepaired; he told the council residents feel the city has not honored prior commitments to maintain screening walls. "The wall has always been an integral part of our neighborhood," Hogan said, and described its current damaged condition.

Mayor Jeff Winget responded that he had spoken with the city manager earlier in the day and that the city has requested quotes from a vendor and is "waiting on quotes from that vendor" and engineering work before proceeding. "So things are happening," the mayor said, noting engineering is pending.

No formal action was taken during the meeting; the council's remarks indicated procurement and engineering steps are in process to address the wall.
