Summary
Hardin County Commissioners on April 28 appointed Whitney Hineke director of Hardin County Health Services, effective May 4, 2026; the court also approved an affiliation with Lamar Institute of Technology to resume nursing preceptor placements.
Hardin County Commissioners Court on Tuesday appointed Whitney Hineke to lead the county’s health services department, effective May 4, 2026.
The county judge introduced Hineke’s appointment, saying the job was posted April 6 and two candidates were interviewed. The judge told the court Hineke has worked for Hardin County Health Services since July 2020, has been promoted several times and “gave the best interview.” After a motion to appoint, the court approved the nomination. The vote was recorded as 4–0 with one abstention.
Hineke, who accepted the post, thanked the court for the opportunity. The commissioners then authorized the county judge to execute an affiliation and preceptor agreement with Lamar Institute of Technology. The agreement will permit students in the associate of applied science in nursing program to use county health facilities, equipment and supervised clinical experiences under established guidelines.
The county said the affiliation repeats a program begun the prior year and that it “went great,” providing hands‑on clinical placements to nursing students while allowing the county health department to support workforce training.
No additional implementation dates beyond Hineke’s effective date were specified at the meeting. The court did not discuss changes to the department’s budget for staffing beyond the appointment vote. The appointment and the Lamar Institute affiliation were approved by voice vote during the April 28 session.
