Waller County approves renaming of Robin Hood Lane to improve traffic flow in Maplewood subdivision

Waller County Commissioners Court on April 29 approved renaming portions of Robin Hood Lane in the Maplewood Section 2 subdivision, a change county staff said is intended to simplify traffic flow and clarify street layouts as a nearby development builds a new collector road and roundabout. The action followed a short public hearing and passed with no recorded opposition.

County staff member Ross described the change during the hearing, saying the action renames a segment of Robin Hood Lane to Robin Hood Court and designates the adjoining segment as King Richard Court. "We're just changing the street name…we're not changing anybody's existing addresses," Ross said, noting the renaming formalizes how a new collector will route traffic away from residential frontages and avoids confusing multiple intersecting legs.

Ross told commissioners the reconfiguration is tied to a nearby development and a planned roundabout at the five‑leg intersection; staff said right‑of‑way will be retained for utilities and driveway access. The county emphasized that no residences will have their house numbers changed and that the renamed segments will be recorded to make addressing and navigation consistent across the subdivision.

After commissioners closed the hearing the court took a motion and second to rename the road segments and voted to carry the motion. The court then directed staff to finalize notices to affected property owners and to record the name changes with county addressing staff.

The court’s action takes effect as staff completes administrative notifications and updates to county records; the item was recorded on the meeting agenda as item 36 (public hearing) and item 37 (motion/vote).
