The committee considered a council‑sponsored resolution urging New York State’s Legislature to include at least $100,000,000 in temporary municipal assistance in the final state budget and to review state aid formulas to better reflect Buffalo’s needs. Majority Leader Helton Pope said joint action by the administration, controller and council would carry more weight with state leaders.
Council members said additional temporary aid could help relieve immediate fiscal pressure and urged the Western New York delegation to support inclusion in both houses. The committee moved to table the item pending coordination with the administration and additional information for council members.
