The judge explained the current bond-conditions coordinator monitors roughly 700 people and the shift of justice of the peace magistration to weekend coverage would reduce magistrate availability; the part-time position is intended to maintain continuity while the associate judge is hired and trained. "This part time position will allow that continuation of coverage for the JPs as they magistrate folks," the judge said.
Commissioners discussed that a salary-order amendment to add the position will follow once details are finalized; the judge said an amendment could be brought back by February 1 if the associate judge is in place. The court carried the item.
The action establishes the position; salary and hiring details will be set in a later amendment to the salary order.
