City department heads briefed the Clinton City Council on their tentative budgets during a work session on April 14, providing updates on organizational changes and planned staffing transitions.
Court Administrator Amy Durrans reviewed the Judicial Administration budget. Human Resource Specialist Keirsten Gilbert said HR’s budget will now include employee expenses and recognition items that had previously been managed by the city manager’s office. Community Development Director Peter Matson reported his department now oversees utility billing and the building budget in addition to planning and zoning. Parks & Recreation Director Brooke Mitchell reviewed parks-related funds and said parks was moved from Public Works into Recreation during the past year.
Finance Director Cory Christensen reviewed budgets for the City Council, Treasurer, Professional and Technical services and IT. Christensen said the treasurer will retire in September; the transcript did not specify the year, and the budget includes overlap to train a replacement.
