Rockwall County Commissioner’s Court on Nov. 25 approved an amendment to its cooperative agreement with the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board to secure an additional $52,250 in reimbursable state funds for repairs at Cedar Creek Watershed Site 13, where contractors found more work than initially anticipated.
Commissioner Lichty (S7) told the court that the primary unanticipated cost is construction of a new spillway and a change in fence type to match the owner’s preferences. He said the additional work is consistent with the county’s strategic goal to maintain conservation lakes and flood-control structures.
Commissioner Stacy (S3) moved to approve the cooperative-agreement amendment; Commissioner Lichty seconded and the court voted 5–0 to accept the amendment and proceed. Immediately afterward, the court approved contract modifications #2 and #3 to Beavers Contracting LLC to implement the additional repairs; that motion also passed 5–0.
What’s next: staff will proceed with the amended cooperative agreement, authorize the contractor modifications, and track state reimbursement under the cooperative-aid process.
