Court terminates concierge contract, shifts to Centivo and approves $0 co‑pays for primary, virtual and specialist visits

San Patricio County Commissioners Court voted to terminate the county’s concierge health services contract and to transition administrative services to Centivo effective April 1. The court also approved improved employee benefits — a $0 co‑pay for primary care, virtual care and specialist visits — effective April 1 for the remainder of the year.

Insurance committee members and benefit administrators told the court they had worked with Centivo to ensure an orderly transition so there would be no lapse in employee coverage. A staff speaker said the Centivo transition will reduce fees and improve recordkeeping, and that Centivo will issue new insurance cards tied to payroll to minimize mailed card delays.

Committee members described issues with the prior concierge vendor’s practices (raised during an earlier executive session) and recommended terminating the concierge contract; the court voted to terminate and to have Centivo assume both TPA and concierge duties beginning April 1. Officials emphasized outreach to employees so they understand the new cards and processes.

Separately, the court approved a benefits change to set co‑pays at $0 for primary care, virtual visits and specialists effective April 1 to provide immediate relief to employees impacted by recent service disruptions. The court included the effective date in the motion and instructed staff to produce employee communications about the change and the transition to Centivo.

Court members said the transition should minimize interruptions for employees and asked that Centivo and county staff coordinate provider communications and employee flyers so employees know to begin using new insurance cards.
