She said the group funds field trips, classroom supplies and volunteer initiatives and described work with a local pottery shop and participation in the homecoming parade.
Two students joined Schweiler to describe favorite events. One student said the Bunny Hop is a favorite because "Springfield won't give up" on the event, and another cited Carnival and Art Night as highlights. Schweiler invited applause for the student presenters and encouraged the community to attend the school's carnival scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. McCollum praised Springfield's performance, noting the school had 95% or higher third-grade IREACH scores in recent years and celebrated the staff and student accomplishments.
The board applauded and thanked the students and staff for the presentation.
