New Lenox board approves plats, vendor renewals, museum purchase and payroll; adopts social media policy
Summary
At its regular meeting the Village Board approved a three-lot plat, a SportsKey renewal, a $20,000-grant-funded crane purchase for Kids Work, a social media policy, a public-works planning contract and routine payroll and disbursements.
The Village Board of New Lenox approved a slate of routine business items, including land- use approvals, vendor renewals, a museum exhibit purchase funded largely by an external grant, and large bimonthly disbursements.
Among the actions the board approved by roll call vote were:
- Final plat approval for the Cherry Hill Triangle three-lot subdivision; planning staff said all comments were resolved and the Plan Commission recommended approval.
- A two-year renewal agreement with SportsKey for continued online facility management and booking at the Crossroads sports complex. "Currently SportsKey is operating very well," staff member Scott told the board.
- Purchase of a replacement crane exhibit for the Kids Work museum using a $20,000 grant from Dimension Energy; staff said the grant covers most of the cost and that the village would cover roughly $3,000. Beth, who works with Kids Work programming, said the design includes safety features to limit misuse.
- Adoption of a formal social media policy that clarifies village social pages and interactive sites are limited public forums and allows removal of vulgar or violent comments.
- Approval of a public-works space needs analysis and master-planning proposal from Tree Architecture not to exceed $27,750.
- Approval of bimonthly disbursements in the amount of $6,469,343.40 and payrolls of $556,119.59 (12/26/2025) and $586,832.66 (01/09/2026).
Trustees moved to enter an executive session on land-acquisition matters at the end of the meeting and indicated they would not return to open session to vote on further items.
The board also recognized local youth organizations and visiting cheerleaders during the meeting.
